Deputy scientific director’s Message
iOTEX is now a fully-fledged academic institution, offering five undergraduate (BSc/BEd) programs, one graduate (MSc) and even a PhD program. This is of great significance for the country, because iOTEX is the only such institution in Ethiopia. Accordingly, iOTEX has got the responsibility to educate not only well-skilled experts for the national textile and garment industry, but also its own instructors on all academic levels.
Looking into the national "Growth and Transformation Plan" (GTP), we can recognize that a big contribution to the economic development of the country is expected from the textile sector. For iOTEX this means first of all to cope with a rapidly increasing number of students, who should get an education as good and as practical as possible. On the other hand, iOTEX supports textile and garment factories within the framework of technology transfer. Based on contracts and MoUs iOTEX cooperate now with many companies and institutions by offering tailor-made solutions for specific challenges. As the case may be, this means giving consultancy or training to staff and management, optimizing processes or organizational procedures, finding sources of trouble and eliminating them. In doing so, the primary aim of iOTEX will always be to give an immediate and measurable benefit to our business partners.
I think, it is highly visible for everybody that iOTEX has taken over leadership in many areas connected to textiles and garment. I am proud of that, but I know at the same time this also means to fulfill our obligations and to meet or even surpass the expectations of the government and the Ethiopian people.
Finally I want to thank all organizations, our university top managements and iOTEX staff members for their support.
