Bahir Dar University

Bahir Dar University is one of the largest universities in Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia. It was launched in May 2000 (1992 E.C.) when the former Bahir Dar Teachers College and Bahir Dar Polytechnic Institute joined together to become the Education and Engineering Faculties, respectively, of the new University. Academic programs of BDU are organized in four colleges, three faculties, five schools and two institutes.

According to the 2001 E.C statistics, BDU has more than 46,000 students and over 53 undergraduate and 32 graduate programs.
